This week I had the opportunity to travel to East Coast in Maryland to work with the Slot Director for one of our newest customers utilizing our award winning floorViz technology.
The first time showing the Slot Floor Inspatial heat map to any Casino Management team is always exciting as it often allows operators to see their casino floor like never before. They get to see their entire gaming floor in a single picture and how each game on a bank and within a section are performing relative to their surroundings. This visit was like many other and we spent quite some time just examining the floor together, looking at different areas of the floor, zooming in on particular games and banks and looking at games that were obviously performing much better or worse than the games surrounding. We also focused on identifying games that were performing much better in the center of the bank compared to games on the end which is not the expected behavior if all things were equal. The heat map was a hit! It provided for a very collaborative environment where we could discuss what we saw with each other in a meaningful way. It was easy for anyone to see how much easier and faster this was than having to sift through pages and pages of spreadsheets.
But even better than being able to simply see how the games are performing visually was the ability to use the many interoperable tools available within the software to get even deeper insights into how and why they are performing the way they are. We were able to select the machines right from the floor map and pull up all of the information about how the game is configured and performing. After that, we ran a few new reports with custom date ranges and opened the Datagrid (similar but more robust than excel) to sort, filter and group games creating all of the slot reports the Slot Director was accustomed to spending hours preparing each month. All of which we were able to recreate from one datagrid dashboard in a matter of minutes!
We went on to use customs drill charts, column charts and the innovative tree map visualization to dig even deeper into the traditional accounting information that all slot operators have used for years as well as a few new and innovative metrics that I had never seen prior to joining Vizexplorer but that I have come to rely heavily on when optimizing the casino floor. All of these interoperable tools worked seamlessly together. It really is not a surprise that the technology has won Gaming and Leisure Transformation Awards in both 2012 and 2014!
This trip was similar to so many others and a huge success! The Slot Director I was fortunate enough to work with this week was very experienced in the industry and has used other analytical and visualization tools in the past. Even so, he was very complimentary and excited to get his hands dirty playing with his new tools.
I am looking forward to following up with him in two weeks to see how he is doing and to show him a few new tricks on how he can combine customer ratings to gain an even deeper understanding into the devotion score for each game and the players most effected by removals, moves and new games!
